UNC Charlotte graduate, Ashleigh Thornton, is well on her way to making her mark in the world of natural hair care! After making the transition from relaxed to natural as a sophomore in college, her research on how to maintain natural hair quickly grew into a passion... A passion that led her to create a line of her own.
Interview with Candice Johnson,

Tell us about yourself:
Most people would be surprised to know how much of a goofball I am...and how much I LOVE food. I love my family and close friends, and am also a lover of the arts (ballet, music, fine dining, you name it!)
How long have you been rocking your frizzness?
I have been rocking my “frizznes” loud and proud since the fall of ‘09!
Natural Hair doesn't define who you are BUT...
It has a major influence on who I am as a woman of color, a future leader, and an entrepreneur.
CONFIDENCE CHECK: Has natural hair allowed you to dance as if no one is watching, or has your aurora remained unfazed since your relaxed days?
I've always been fairly self-assured, but I can honestly say that being natural has given me an extra shot of confidence. There’s just something about having all of this hair...
Share some secrets leading to a fabulous, happy, HEALTHY mane.
Three things: Drink plenty of water/eat well, develop a consistent hair-care routine, and of course, use NoireNaturals!
What advice can you bless new, transitioning or frustrated kinky curly queens with?
If you’re transitioning and feeling frustrated, do NOT give-in. Remember that anything worth having is worth fighting for, and it's no different with your hair! The freedom and overall feeling of completing your transition will be well worth it!
What's the most fabulous part of your journey to frizzness?
Learning to embrace this "new look” and inspiring others to do the same has been pretty fabulous ;)
Outside of your gorgeous mane, what inspires you?
People who are bold enough, brave enough, and bright enough to follow their dreams. Anyone can be a DREAMER, but the doers?—that’s true inspiration right there.
